Pre-1988 NASCAR Racing

Derrike drove the JR95 for George Jefferson (Jefferson Racing). It was a Ford Thunderbird colored silver on blue. In 1981, Derrike was sixth in point standings in the NASCAR Late Model Sportsman standings.

In 1983 Derrike was NASCAR's Late Model Sportsman Champion. In 1984 he was named Winston West rookie of the year. More early racing photos can be seen in Gallery pages 11 and 12. More information can be found on the Winston West page.

In 1987, Derrike drove the Stoke Ford for the first two races, the Stoke Racing Chevrolet for the 3rd race, the Alugard Chevrolet for the 4th-6th races, the Stoke Chevrolet for the 7th-8th races, the Stoke Racing Ford for the 9th-11th races, and the Wholesale Chevrolet in the final 12th race.
