| State Fair is the No. 1 producer of
corn dogs in the world, processing 1.5 million a day. With headquarters in Dallas and more
than 400 employees, State Fair also produces popular mini corn dogs and convenient
breakfast meals like Pancakes 'n Sausage. State
Fair is a widely recognized brand name in both the food service and retail industries.
Originally founded by the Southland Corp. in Dallas in 1951, the company was named Circle
T Foods. In 1973, the company was purchased by Herman W. Lay, founder of Frito-Lay and
Chairman of the Board of PepsiCo.
Lay retired from PepsiCo in 1980, expanding the
Circle T product lines and geographic sales territories. The company joined Sara Lee Corp.
on Dec. 31, 1986. The new division of Sara Lee became State Fair Foods, Inc., to more
closely identify the brand name. |
