| MOORESVILLE, N.C.
(Aug. 25, 1999) - Eel River Racing and driver Derrike Cope have mutually
agreed to end their business relationship effective Wednesday morning,
announced car owner Jack Birmingham.
"This decision is made in
the best interests of both Derrike Cope and Eel River racing,"
Birmingham said. "We were both in need of a change and this is an
opportunity for both parties to start out fresh. We met with Derrike and
he shared our view on the situation. Eel River racing would like to thank
Derrike for all the hard work he has given us and wish him good luck in
the future. I believe Derrike still has a lot of good driving ahead of
him."
Eel River Racing is currently
considering drivers to fill the empty seat of the No. 30 Pontiac for this
weekend's Goody's 500 in Bristol, Tenn. The team will announce its
decision soon.
"We are excited about the
future ahead of Eel River Racing," Birmingham said. "We are just
embarking on our plan for the year 2000 a little sooner than
expected."
Birmingham's No. 30 Pontiac has a
rotating sponsorship with four Sara Lee companies this season. The
companies are Jimmy Dean, Bryan, State Fair Brand Corn Dogs and Rudy's
Farm. |
