Pre-Race

Derrike will drive the #41 Kodiak Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Talladega for owner Larry Hedrick. Dick Trickle was the previous driver.

In Friday's practice, Derrike was 23rd fastest with a time of 49.187 and speed of 194.685.

In first round qualifying, Derrike took the track as the 46th of 47 drivers. His first lap was 49.849 with a time of 192.100 which put him in 42nd position at that time. On his second lap, he moved up to 49.216 and speed of 194.571 which put the Kodiak Chevrolet in 26th position. At the end of the round which was one more car, he was left in 27th position.

In Saturday's practice, Derrike was 18th fastest with a time of 49.315 and speed of 194.180.

The team stood on their time for second round qualifying. Two cars were faster so Derrike will start the race in 29th position.

In Saturday's Happy Hour, Derrike was 29th fastest with a time of 49.318 and speed of 194.168.

Derrike started the race in 29th position. He was up to 14th position during the race but then got caught in a 5 car wreck. Unfortunately the two cars got into it right in front of Derrike and there was nothing he could do except hit the back of the #9 which then shoved him up against the wall. Fortunately he was able to drive through it and got the car back on the track 17-18 laps later. Derrike finished the race in 37th position, 21 laps down.
