In Friday's first practice, Derrike was 43rd fastest with a time of 23.206 and speed of 155.132. In the second practice, he picked up the time and was 35th fastest with a time of 23.028 and speed of 156.331.

Derrike was the 31st of 48 drivers on the track for first round qualifying and produced a time of 23.231 and speed of 154.965. This was good enough for 26th position at the time. At the end of the round, the Larry's Homes Chevrolet was left in 41st position. Unfortunately, Speedvision decided to go to a commercial right before Derrike's run and didn't bother showing anything after the commercial so we were unable to see the car in action.

In Saturday's practice, Derrike was 8th fastest with a time of 23.192 and speed of 155.225.

In second round qualifying, Derrike produced a time of 23.554 and speed of 152.840. This was only good enough for 47th position and the team will miss the race.
