Jimmy Dean Foods Revs Up Summer Racing Promotion with Pontiac Trans Am Giveaway

LOUDON, N.H. (July 11, 1998) -- Jimmy Dean Foods will give away a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am to one lucky winner in the Jimmy Dean Racing Instant Win Sweepstakes.

Jimmy Dean products with specially marked "racing" packaging will contain Winners Circle Game Piece stickers that fans can peel to instantly see if they've won. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a trip for two to the 1999 Daytona 500 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway to receive the car and meet Derrike Cope, driver of the No. 30 Gumout/Sara Lee Meat Group Pontiac.

"Our involvement in NASCAR this year with Derrike and Bahari' Racing has been very exciting," said Ginna Domm, vice president, retail marketing, for Jimmy Dean Foods. "This promotion allows us to involve our consumers in Jimmy Dean's racing program."

The Jimmy Dean Racing Instant Win Sweepstakes begins in mid-August and runs through October. Game pieces can be found inside more than 6 million packages of Jimmy Dean boxed products including Heat 'N Serve link sausage, Jimmy Dean Sausage Biscuits, and Jimmy Dean Flapsticks. In addition to the grand prize, 10,000 free product coupons will be awarded.

The Instant Win Sweepstakes adds another level of excitement to the Jimmy Dean Racing program, which currently features an "Official Lap Points" promotion on the entire line of Jimmy Dean products. Consumers accumulate official lap points found on Jimmy Dean packages and redeem them for collectible racing merchandise such as die-cast cars, racing apparel and phone cards. The Winners Circle catalog, which is available inside Jimmy Dean products or by mail, provides details of the program.
