Food City 500 Live Report

What a beautiful spring day in Tennessee! I have
been going to Bristol for some time (I only live 2 hours from the Track) and I can't
remember ever being to such a Warm (or Dry, ha) Bristol Spring Race.
So much has changed at this track since the Fall
race. It is hard to believe it is the same track (until the racin' starts!). Bristol is a
good track, not a bad seat in the house 'cause you can see the whole track from anywhere
you may sit. Anyone that is a racing fan would love this track!
I arrived a bit late at the Track, bloody Bristol
traffic, but just in time to see them drop the Green flag. The Gumout Pontiac was looking
okay. I was watching Derrike go around, took my eyes off him for just a moment, and
somehow he had damage to the front of the Gumout Pontiac. He then went in to the pits a
couple of times to do some repair work on the front of his car.
The Gumout Pit Crew was awesome getting Derrike
in and out of the pits all day. After a couple of cautions and some more work on the car,
Derrike looked like he was moving up in the field. His car must not have been hooked up
right, pain from his injury, or other factors just seemed to keep pushing him back. But he
kept digging in.
Derrike had a decent finish with 26th. This
Bahari' Racing Team looks really good, and I do think that they will win some races. I
think that both Derrike and Bahari' are long over due for their share of victories. With
the Superspeedways coming soon, I bet we see Derrike show the Gumout Team's stuff! |
