| In first round qualifying, Derrike
was the 16th car on the track and took the qualifying lap at a time of 54.309 for a speed
of 165.718 mph. At the time this put him in 9th place. At the end of the round, the team
was left with a first round qualifying position of 31st. The team elected to requalify in
the second round and moved their position up to 29th where they started the race. This is where Derrike was during the race among the 42
cars:
- 34th position - lap 8 of 200
- 30th - lap 20
- 28th - lap 32 (Green flag pit stops occurred.
Derrike could have taken the lead since he was running second and gain 5 bonus points but
elected to pit with leader Jimmy Spencer.)
- 23rd - lap 57
- 28th - lap 80 (Green flag pit stops happened
before this)
- 17th - lap 103
- 21st - lap 112 (Pitted during green flag pit
stops)
- 18th - lap 119 (Yellow caution because of debris
in turn one. I'm not sure what happened during this caution from laps 119-127, but Derrike
ranged from 13th to 20th and when the restart occurred on lap 127, he was in 15th.)
- 16th - lap 128 (Multi-car accident happened in
front of Derrike causing Derrike to go low in the grass to get by. He struggled but was
able to keep the car going straight and get it back on the track.)
- 21st - lap 129 (Must have pitted to make sure car
was okay)
- 20th - lap 136 (Ernie Irvan went into the wall and
back down the track. Of course this was right in front of Derrike again but fortunately he
was able to just miss the back end of Irvan's car.)
- 19th - lap 142
- 18th - lap 157
- 1st - lap 173 (Green flag pit stops happened and
Derrike stayed out late which gave him the lead and 5 bonus points. Just to show you what
