| With solid finishes at both
Talladega and Charlotte, Derrike goes to the cement-track at Dover Downs International
Speedway with the ambition to duplicate his 1990 victory. "Dover has been good to
me," said Derrike. "The SKITTLES® Team has worked hard putting together the #36
Pontiac for Dover. We will utilize our time during practice to learn everything we can
since this type of track is new to this team. This SKITTLES® Team is making steady
strides and we could be looking at our first top-10 finish real soon." After Derrike took his qualifying run, he was 4th fastest. When first round qualifying was finished, Derrike was able to stay in the top-25 with a 15th starting position for Sunday's race. This is where Derrike was during the race:
Derrike finished the last 500 mile race at Dover in 20th position, 5 laps down. The car was loose most of the day which was why they couldn't move up faster to the front. You probably didn't hear anything on television but in the pits, Ted Musgrave accidentally hit SKITTLES® tire carrier Mike Cappuccetti. Mike has a sprained ankle but fortunately is doing well. Derrike again moved up this week in the point standings to 30th.
Patty Leizear was at the race and provided a live report. |
