 Pontiac Excitement 400
Qualifying was postponed both days because of rain. Since qualifying was postponed, the starting grid was determined by a combination of owner points and the dated postmark on teams' entry blanks. This put Derrike in a starting position of 38th. Because of the number of cars in the race, the team also had to share a pit with Gary Bradberry.

This is where Derrike was during the race:

  • 39th position - lap 14 of 400
  • 33rd - lap 75
  • 29th - lap 97. At this point, Derrike got lapped for the first time.
  • 34th - lap 127
  • 30th - lap 216
  • 34th - lap 260
  • 31st - lap 302
  • 34th - lap 377

After a wild race among the leaders late in the race, Derrike finished in 30th position.
