Furnishings was announced as joining the Bobby Allison Motorsports Team and driver Derrike
Cope as the primary sponsor. Badcock is also sponsoring Derrike in a limited Busch Series
schedule in the #26 FoxCo Ford so the addition of Winston Cup was a natural for the
Mulberry, FL corporation.
"When we learned that major
sponsorship was needed to support the #12 Bobby Allison Motorsports Team's Thunderbirds,
we saw an opportunity to lend a helping hand to legend Bobby Allison and his team,"
said Ben Badcock, President. "We want to help preserve the status of a legend such as
Bobby Allison, as we feel he has definitely built a winning team."
"It's a very exciting situation
for me," said Derrike Cope about the announcement, "because I was able to bring
them into the sport on the Busch Grand National level after some dabbling in years prior.
It's an exciting time for us. They are truly some unique people and I'm delighted that
they've gotten an opportunity to be on our racecar."
Team owner Bobby Allison was equally
excited about the announcement. "Needless to say, I am really pleased and am very
grateful that Badcock has come on board," he said. "The last few months have
been a very trying time for me personally, as well as for the team. This is a tough time
of year to be searching for immediate funding. Mane 'n Tail expressed their desire earlier
this year to lessen their involvemnt, so with Badcock becoming the major sponsor, this
will allow Mane 'n Tail to take on an 'associate' role. We are pleased that Mane 'n Tail
will stay with us in that capacity. Badcock has given us a 'shot in the arm' -- an
opportunity to come forward and show just what we're made of." |
