When asked about the upcoming race, Derrike said, "We're going to Atlanta with kind of a backup backup car. We wrecked both of our primary cars of the new design so we basically have one of the older cars. We're hoping to have a fairly productive run. We typically get around there good so I feel good about going there. I don't care what car we have. I think we can get around there well and hopefully we'll have at least a good finish, if not a win."

After first day qualifying, Derrike was sitting in 35th position. Unfortunately on second day qualifying, Derrike was still unable to get in the starting grid, so the team missed their second race of the season.
