Derrike stayed on
the bubble in qualifying and started the race in 25th. On the first pit stop, the team had
some kind of situation with an airgun that caused Derrike to pit twice. This moved him
from 23rd back to 35th.
Shortly thereafter on lap 69, the
engine blew with what was guessed to be a cracked cylinder. This makes the third race in a
row that the engine has had problems and caused the team to leave early.
In the past few weeks, there has
been a lot of enthusiasm about the new chassis that the team is using, but now work needs
to be done on the engine so the car can finish a race. The only good thing to come out of
the race was that John Andretti also didn't finish, so he and Derrike still lead all
drivers with the most DNF's (7) this year. |
