1994 Winston Cup Season

Fingerhut car

Derrike in uniformThe 1994 season started with Derrike Cope racing for Cale Yarborough Motorsports team sponsored by Fingerhut Companies, Inc.  Both Derrike and Cale were very optimistic at the start of the season with Derrike saying "With Fingerhut joining the Cale Yarborough Motorsports team, we're going into 1994 with the most potential imaginable. We'll be focused and motivated for every race."

Fingerhut RacingCrew chief and general manager was Ken Glenn and chief engine builders were Rick Swain and Tony Santanicola.

#02 carUnfortunately the season did not turn out as expected for all involved. In the middle of the season, Cale Yarborough dropped Derrike as his driver for the #98 Ford Thunderbird and brought in rookie Jeremy Mayfield.

#02 carDerrike never missed a beat though, picking up the #02 ride for rookie car owner T.W. Taylor of Taylor Performance Racing sponsored by Children's Miracle Net, who had had Jeremy Mayfield as his driver.

'94 Straight Arrow carAfter a few weeks of racing for T.W. Taylor, he drove for Bobby Allison Motorsports in the Watkins Glen race. The following week at Michigan it was officially announced that Derrike would be finishing the 1994 season with Bobby Allison. Crew chief was Jimmy Fennig.

It was also announced that Straight Arrow would become the new sponsor for the #12 Ford Thunderbird.
