1989 Winston Cup Season

Derrike Cope drove the #68 Pontiac Purolator for Jim Testa and the #10 Purolator for Bob Whitcomb in 1989. Buddy Parrott was the crew chief for Bob Whitcomb.

Derrike Cope came on strong at the end of the season and only once in the final five races did he start a race out of the top 10. "It seemed that after we worked on our program and settled in on what we needed to do, we became much more competitive," Cope said. "Now, we are confident that we are ready to continue that trend. We are looking forward to the 1990 season with great anticipation."
