Derrike will be driving the #74 Dodge at Homestead.
Derrike said last week, "All I
can say is that we will have to go to Homestead and try and right the ship. We
have struggled as of late to find what it takes to make these races. We will get
one more shot at it this year and try and get some direction for next year."
In the first practice, Derrike
was 54th fastest with a time of 31.593 and speed of 170.924.
In Qualifying, Derrike's fastest
lap was 31.699 with speed of 170.352. This was good enough for 52nd fastest so
the team did not make the race.

Derrike said, "This weekend marks the end of the 2006 NEXTEL CUP season. We certainly
did not end it the way we had hoped. We were unable to find the necessary
speed in the Sundance Vacations Dodger Charger to qualify for the race. We
went with a more conventional set up which proved to not be capable of
matching the competition with the coil bind chassis combination. We could have had a better lap in qualifying I believe, But we needed quite a bit of speed to make the race so I elected to free the car up and make a number of
changes in hopes of getting the lap I needed, but the car was just too loose
and I turned sideways on me on the first lap in turn three which ended our
bid.
"There were a lot of teams trying to make the race which provided a look
at what next year may bring. We are now looking at our options on how to further the team's productivity for next year. Certainly funding is the key issue.
"I want to thank all of the crew for their hard work and dedication.
They are all giving their time each week voluntarily, with the exception of Wiz, Greg, and Dallas. We accomplished a great deal more that people
expected us to, although the latter portion of the year was a bit disappointing. For such a small team I personally am pleased with what we were able to make happen."
