Derrike told us, "I am
excited about heading back to Dover. We had a good qualifying effort as well as
a pretty productive race there in June. We are taking the Bristol car which is
the same car that we ran there in June. It was quick at Bristol and is a
concrete car so I am optimistic that we will run well."
In the first practice,
Derrike was 36th fastest with a time of 23.606 and speed of 152.504.
In Qualifying, Derrike produced his fastest lap of 23.515
with speed of 153.094. At the end of the round, this put the #74 Dodge in
31st position where Derrike will start the race.
After qualifying, Derrike said,
"I am pleased with our effort today! 31st is where we will start on Sunday
with the Sundance Vacations Dodge Charger. We unloaded pretty well. We kept
adjusting the car looking to find grip and were finally able to hit on a
combination that suited me. The car was a bit tight on our mock qualifying
run, and we left it alone to qualify. The car was a bit loose in qualifying
so I gave up a little speed to make sure I did not make a mistake. The
result was what we needed to go race hard on Sunday. John and Tina Dowd are
here from Sundance Vacations so we are looking forward to running well this
weekend."
In the second practice,
Derrike was 43rd fastest with a time of 24.718 and speed of 145.643. In
Happy Hour, he was 42nd fastest with a time of 24.715 and speed of 145.661.
After Saturday, Derrike said,
"Cup practice was a bit of a struggle. We never really found what I was
looking for. We made some more changes for Sunday and hoping we went the
right way. After running the Busch race, that car was tight all day, so I am
trying to make sure we can turn better with the Cup car. I am looking
forward to getting to race today. I hope we are just competitive and can run
all day long. I will update you after the race with my thoughts about our
effort."

Derrike started the race
in 31st position and finished in 43rd.

After the race Derrike said,
"Dover ended early for us, but not of our own choice. We started the race
off with the car being too tight. With the early cautions, we elected to
come in and try to free up the Sundance Vacations Dodge. We were a bit
successful but soon suffered engine failure which ended our day early. I was
hoping to run all day but it was not to be. We will head off to Kansas next
week and try and have a more productive effort."
