Derrike and the McGlynn
Racing team head to Richmond. Derrike said, "We are headed
off to Richmond this weekend. We will be taking the same car that we qualified
there in the spring. We are changing some things with the car that we used in
Michigan with the hopes that we will find some additional speed. I am looking
forward to Friday and getting on the race track. The crew has been working on
another Charger that we have with the hopes of getting it ready for Loudon next
week. So as you can see for a small team, it is always a busy and hectic time."
In the first practice, Derrike was 42nd fastest with a time of 21.955 and
speed of 122.979.
In Qualifying, Derrike produced his fastest lap of 21.781
with speed of 123.961. This was only fast enough for the 44th position so
the #74 Dodge missed the race.

After the qualifying effort, Derrike said,
"We did not have a productive day at Richmond. We were not very good from
the start! We just never found the handle on the car. We were trying to coil
bind and were not successful at it which hurt us. We missed the race by 5
hundredths of a second. On my last lap the car was just too tight and would
not turn thus pushing off the corner, and when I had to turn the wheel, the
rear of the car broke loose and spun the tires all the way to the flag stand
and that was the difference. So I am unhappy! Hopefully the crew can finish
a Charger short track car for Loudon. We will have to put this behind us and
move on to next week and get back on track."
