Pre-Race

Derrike and the McGlynn Racing team head back to Bristol. Derrike said, "We will be taking the Dodge Charger that we ran successfully at Dover. It is a concrete car. We did not get the chance to qualify there in the spring because of snow, so hopefully we can continue the success we had at Michigan. I enjoy racing at Bristol. There the aero is not quite as important and the setups are a bit more conventional. I look forward to the task ahead of us. Friday night is qualifying so it will not be long. I cannot wait."

In the first practice, Derrike was 17th fastest of 49 cars with a time of 15.522 and speed of 123.618.

In Qualifying, Derrike produced his fastest lap of 15.638 with speed of 122.701. At the end of the round the #74 Dodge was in 33rd position where Derrike will start the race.

After qualifying, Derrike updated us by saying, "Bristol looked promising from the first lap on the racetrack. We unloaded 6th fastest, although a lot of the locked in cars were doing some race runs. But when it was all said and done at the end of practice, we were 17th fastest which we were very excited about. We ran a 15.53 second lap. I felt like we could run faster in qualifying. We were a bit tight in the middle of the corner.

"The problem ended up being the draw we had for qualifying. We went out 4th. The racetrack sat there with no running on it and it just got very slick. On my first qualifying lap I got through one and two very well, although very loose, but in three and four the car just lost all of its grip for how hard and aggressively I drove the car and it broke loose. I had to be very conservative the next lap and it was good enough to qualify 33rd. I am very pleased with the entire effort of the Sundance Vacations/Royal Administration Dodge crew. Just a great day.

"As for the race, we will not run very long. We need this car for the Dover race and with limited crew and funding we will have to park it early. But this is showing that we are capable of being very competitive and are getting better each week. We just need some more money to be able to race every weekend. It just takes its toll on the engine, which is costly, as well as the tire bill."

In the second practice, Derrike was 40th fastest with a time of 15.999 and speed of 119.933.
