Derrike updated us with the following, "I will
be driving for McGlynn Motorsports once again. I will be driving the number
00 car in Phoenix this weekend and again the following week at Homestead. I
am very excited about the opportunity. The sponsor will be Buyers
Choice/Royal Administration. The car will be a Dodge with Joey Arrington
engines. We had a great time with some success at Martinsville. I am
optimistic that we can expand on that effort and have a productive couple of
races."
One of the sponsors listed on NASCAR.com was
Polly Klaas Foundation.
In the first practice, Derrike was 31st fastest
with a time of 28.068 and speed of 128.260. In Happy Hour, he was 43rd
fastest with a time of 28.014 and speed of 128.507.
After the practices, Derrike updated us with the
following. "Practice went pretty good for the first session. We were 31st
fastest and thought we would pick up. But when we started the second
practice we had some bad vibrations in the car and lost most of that
practice. We found the problems late in the practice. I think we have some
left in the car to go fast enough to qualify. I just need two good laps and
hopefully that will be enough to get us in. I will provide an update on
Saturday after qualifying. Talk to you tomorrow."
In Qualifying, Derrike produced a fastest lap of
27.742 with speed of 129.767. This put the #00 Dodge in 48th position.
Unfortunately this was not fast enough to make the race.
