Derrike informed us,
"I will be driving a Cup car in Loudon and possibly Pocono which
is the number
52 Dodge Intrepid for Rick Ware Racing. The sponsor is Pro30.com. I am
looking forward to going to Loudon and working with the team. The crew
chief, Ken Glenn, is someone I have worked with before at Cale Yarborough
Motorsports. If things go well at Loudon we will probably go on to Pocono.
That is the plan as it stands. Rick Ware and I have discussed some further
plans for events in the future as well. I am excited about the opportunity
and hope that we can provide a great effort for Pro30.com."
EPH Tools & Machining, RVR, and Joe Racer will
also be sponsors for the race..
In the first practice, Derrike was 45th fastest
with a time of 30.973 and speed of 122.972. In Happy Hour, he had picked up
the speed to 42nd fastest with a time of 30.071 and speed of 126.660.
In Qualifying, Derrike pulled out a time of
30.198 with speed of 126.128. This was fast enough for 43rd but due
to other's provisionals, he got put back to 45th position and didn't make
the race.

Derrike provided us an update for this weekend.
"As for the Cup car, I really felt good about getting the Pro30.com Dodge in
the race, but unfortunately we just missed making the race. I just could not
get the car to turn in the middle of the corner the way I needed to in order
to get back on the gas. But it was a good first effort for us as a team. The
guys did a really good job getting a number of changes done on the car to
find the speed that we did. We learned a lot about this car and I think we
will be better the next time out. We will be going to Pocono to try again.
Hopefully we will have more success."
