Looking back to yesterday’s Martinsville run, Derrike
summarized their day. "First, we were close to qualifying on speed. In our
qualifying run I spun the tires which hurt our time. I think that occurred
because we needed more forward bite. In the race after about ten laps the
car would respond and then would be good on long runs. After the car came
in, our lap speeds would be comparable to those of cars in the middle of the
pack. In my opinion we had put together a competitive effort. Clearly, our
short track program is improving. We knocked a hole in the top of the
radiator when we did some front end damage to our car. We tried to keep the
temperature down by removing tape on the front end to increase airflow.
Eventually, overheating put us out of the race."
