Derrike will be driving in Dover. Since he did not make the race in Loudon where he was going to use the special paint job for the #37 Friendly's, he will be using it in Dover. In a coloring contest held by Friendly's, 12 year old Seneca Tedford of Lebanon, CT won and her design will be used. Pre-Race Due to an upcoming hurricane, NASCAR cancelled all activities on the track Thursday and Friday. This meant qualifying was cancelled and the lineup set with owner's points. Derrike will be starting the race in 42nd position. In the first practice on Saturday Derrike was 43rd fastest with a time of 25.129 and speed of 143.261. In Happy Hour he was 42nd fastest with a time of 24.645 and speed of 146.074.
Derrike started the race in 42nd position and finished in 35th position.
Barbara Slegel was at the race and provided a live report. Barbara's Live Report
Commenting on the MBNA American 400 Derrike said, "Overall, I am relatively pleased with our run yesterday at Dover. Throughout the race we made several adjustments to adjust the handling which improved as the race progressed. Our pit crew gained a lot of experience and I am pleased with our overall team progress. It was great to showcase Seneca Tedford's paint scheme and to have a good effort for Friendly's."
