Derrike and the #37 Friendly's Chevrolet are excited about
their chances in Pocono.
In the first practice, Derrike was 43rd fastest with a time
of 55.149 and speed of 163.194.
Derrike went out 18th to qualify and produced a lap of
54.920 and speed of 163.875. The car was loose again and banged off the turn
3 wall on the first lap. Unfortunately the speed was not fast enough for
the top 36 and another car with a slower time was higher in provisionals so
the #37 Chevrolet will miss the race.
Ken Fleming was at qualifying and provided this information:
"In practice, Derrike was the eleventh car out and during the
second lap he hung a lifter. That meant a motor change which the team
completed in a little over an hour. That gave Derrike a final practice lap
before the session ended. After practice they changed the rear springs and
made adjustments to the track bar as the car was loose on entry. Derrike was
number eighteen to qualify. His first lap was under 55. On the second lap
the engine broke and Derrike shut it down."
