Derrike will be driving in California this weekend with Great Barrier Reef as the primary sponsor. Derrike told us, "Right now we are pretty excited about the opportunity with Great Barrier Reef as sponsor...as well as preparing ourselves for a number of races coming up. It looks like we will run...California, Richmond, Winston Open, Charlotte, Dover, Pocono, then Michigan. There is a lot of racing coming up and the guys are really working hard." On Friday, Derrike's best speed was 180.637. The team was able to improve to 181.415 during qualifying, but will make the race in 43rd position using a provisional. In Happy Hour, The #37 was 41st and they were forced to make engine changes after they encountered problems in final practice. Cope, for one, was thankful for his engine trouble's timing in his No. 37 Chevy. "I believe we had a valve break on our last lap on the race track," Cope said in anticipation of his fifth start this season.
Derrike started the race in 43rd position and after experiencing problems early, finished the race in 43rd.
Bruce Bates was at the race and provided a live report. Bruce's Report
