
Derrike will be behind the wheel of
the #49 BAM Dodge for the final race of the 2002 Winston Cup season Sunday
at Homestead, Florida. "We are taking the car to Homestead that we have had
success with in three earlier races that were productive for us. We are
poised to give it our best shot and want to end the year on a high note,"
Derrike commented.
In the first practice, Derrike was 45th
fastest of 51 cars with a time of 36.215 and speed of 149.109.
In qualifying, Derrike was to take
the track as the 13th car. He produced a time of 36.678 and speed of 147.227.
This was not fast enough to get in the lineup so the team had to take a
provisional and thus Derrike will be starting the race in 43rd position.
In the second practice, Derrike was
43rd fastest with a time of 37.683 and speed of 143.301.
In Happy Hour, Derrike was 42nd
fastest with a time of 37.845 and speed of 142.687.

Derrike started the race in 43rd
position and finished in 34th, 3 laps down.
