October 18, 2002 -
Quest Motor Racing owners
Derrike Cope and Warren Johnson, have announced that Jeff Jefferson will drive the No. 37 Xtreme Motorsports Marketing Pontiac in the November 10 NASCAR Winston Cup event at Phoenix International Raceway, located in Avondale, Arizona. Jefferson, a native of Naches, Wash.
recently completed the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series, NASCAR Touring season with four Bud Pole Awards and two victories. He also wrapped up a top-20 points finish in the NASCAR Winston West series, and has one career victory on the prestigious touring division.
Xtreme Motorsports Marketing is based in Victorville, Calif., and specializes in motorsports marketing from Winston Cup to NASCAR Weekly Racing Series, presented by Dodge competitors.
"I'm very excited about this wonderful opportunity to drive for Derrike and Warren," Jefferson said. "It's a dream come true and I will work very hard for the No. 37 Xtreme Motorsports Marketing Pontiac team."
Jefferson picked up his first Winston West victory in July of 2000 at the final asphalt-racing event for the historic Portland (Ore.) Speedway. This season, after competing at California Speedway in a Winston West machine, Jefferson boarded a plane and flew to West Richland, Wash. where he captured his first career Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series, NASCAR Touring victory.
The 30-year old driver will be making his first start on the NASCAR Winston Cup series but not his first start on the one-mile paved oval in Avondale, Arizona. Jefferson is a past qualifying record holder behind the wheel of a Winston West machine at the famed
speedplant.

The Quest Motor Racing #37
Ford was fast off of the hauler at Loudon prior to qualifying. Kevin Lepage and
Ernie Cope worked together to make some setup modifications to prepare for the
qualifying run. As a result, Kevin had a strong qualifying lap to put the Quest
entry solidly in the field. Unfortunately, engine trouble prematurely ended the
race for the Quest Motor Racing team. Derrike extends his appreciation to
Friendly's Ice Cream for their sponsorship at Loudon and to Pete Bell and Bob
Hogan for their support. Kevin Lepage started in 26th position and ended the
race in 40th position.
Kevin Lepage to
Drive for Derrike
September 9, 2002 -
We spoke to Derrike today
and he updated us on his condition. Derrike saw an
orthopedic surgeon today to have his knee looked at and it was confirmed that he
has a broken left fibula (leg). Also, his right scapula (shoulder) is broken.
Due to the injuries at opposite points of the body, he is unable to use crutches
and is using a wheelchair. There is no operation necessary so it is just a
healing process. He will be getting an MRI and CT Scan Tuesday.
Derrike said that Kevin Lepage will be
driving the Friendly's car this weekend in Loudon. As you may remember, Kevin
drove for Quest Motor Racing at Charlotte this past May and has shown he is very
proficient and has done very well. Since Kevin is from up north, the combination
of him and Friendly's Ice Cream Corp. will prove to be very beneficial for the
brand awareness of Friendly's. Derrike would like to thank Clarence Brewer,
owner of the Busch team for which Kevin Lepage drives, for allowing Kevin to
participate.
Kevin Lepage started the race in 26th
position and finished in 40th position.

September 6, 2002 -
It was announced that
Friendly's Restaurants will sponsor Derrike for the September 15th Loudon
Winston Cup race. Available here is the press
release. Note: Due to Derrike's injuries at Richmond, it was
announced that Kevin Lepage will be driving the Friendly's car.

Quest to
Field Two Cars at Charlotte
May 11, 2002 -
Quest Motor Racing (QMR), owned by NASCAR Winston Cup driver, Derrike Cope,
will field two (2) Winston Cup cars for the upcoming Charlotte races. GEICO
Direct agreed to a two-race deal with QMR that will include The Winston Open
on Saturday, May 18, 2002 and the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 26, 2002.
Late Thursday, Quest Motor Racing agreed to a deal with Kevin Lepage for
Lepage to drive the #38 GEICO Direct Ford in both The Winston Open and the
Coca-Cola 600. Cope's #37 Ford will be sponsored by Sound Moves, a global
freight orchestration company. Details regarding Cope's sponsorship deal
with Sound Moves are forthcoming and will be available shortly. Player
Management International coordinated both the GEICO Direct sponsorship deal
and the QMR/Lepage agreement.
Derrike was excited at the news that GEICO Direct was coming on board.
"We are very pleased to have GEICO Direct on board as a sponsor with us
in Charlotte. They were on our car last year in Indianapolis and we are
excited to have them back," Cope said on Friday. "Just last week
we were trying to get a sponsorship deal put together for one car for one
race and this week have sponsorship deals for two cars for two races! It is
a problem you like to have." He added, "It made things a lot
easier for us when Kevin Lepage agreed to come on board and drive the #38
GEICO Direct Ford because he is a proven driver with a proven track record
at Charlotte and with us working together it will definitely benefit both
cars. The most important thing is for both of us to make the Coca-Cola 600
and The Winston Open will give us a chance to test our cars and get a feel
for the track and what to expect the following week."
Reached on Friday, Kevin Lepage was grateful for the opportunity. "I
would like to thank Derrike and GEICO Direct for giving me the opportunity
to run in two of the most internationally recognized premier celebrations of
motorsports." He added, "I'm very excited about getting back
behind the wheel of a NASCAR Winston Cup racecar. Charlotte is one of my
favorite tracks. I qualified 5th there last year and finished 13th in the
fall race. I am looking forward to the alliance with Derrike and with the
two of us working together I am looking forward to two great finishes in the
#38 GEICO Direct Ford." Lepage has 4 Top 15 finishes in six Winston Cup
starts at Charlotte.
GEICO Direct provides nationwide service and ranks as the fifth largest
private passenger auto insurance company in the United States. Their
corporate headquarters is located in Washington, D.C. and since the
beginning, the GEICO name has been synonymous with outstanding service.
Instead of using agents, they have marketed directly to customers. At first
those customers were exclusively government employees. In 1958, the company
began serving other customers as well. In 1980, GEICO became the first
insurer to provide 24-hour customer service. Each week, over 10,000 drivers
switch to GEICO Direct. As of December 2001, they insured more than 4.7
million policyholders and 7.3 million autos. They go to GEICO Direct for the
savings, but they stay for the service.

on future plans, Derrike said, "We continue to focus on acquiring sponsorship for

that we have had with potential sponsors. Beyond Charlotte I am looking to develop
sponsorship for some additional races during the season." Derrike will be doing two shows
for FOX Sports this weekend.
April

Open and the Coca-Cola 600 in May. We have the equipment at Quest to go racing.

to use Charlotte as a springboard for additional races during the year."

Derrike shared that he was very pleased
with the Quest Craftsman Truck Team and their performance at Daytona earlier in
the month. "Considering that we were not in a position to test our truck at
Daytona, I am pleased with our showing. Matt Mullins did a good job behind the
wheel in his first trip to Daytona. We were pleased to be involved with Folgers

The #37 Folgers-Jakada truck with Matt Mullins behind the wheel finished
the race in 16th position after completing 99 of 100 laps. Great job!!
The truck had made Daytona's Florida Dodge Dealers 250 race with a time of 49.604 and speed of
181.432, and will be starting the race in 31st position. This was great for the
team's first time out and considering only 36 of 47 drivers made the field.
