Question: Do you experience much variance in different sets of tires during a race?
Derrike's Answer:
It depends on several variables. Batch means a lot and can influence handling significantly. I feel that the fresher the tires the better. However, we do see disparity in tires from set to set.

Question: Do you anticipate running a full schedule in 2004?
Derrike's Answer: Yes. We plan on being at every race.

Question: Do you use an outside agent in searching for sponsors or do you make the initial contacts?
Derrike's Answer:
We utilize a couple of people that make initial sponsor contacts for us. If there is interest demonstrated by a potential sponsor, I will make follow up contact and provide materials that we have developed. I rely on these agents to get me an audience with the potential sponsor. I prefer to do the deal in person.

Question: What is your opinion of NASCAR’s new caution rule?
Derrike's Answer:
I favor the rule. I believe that it will protect race car drivers. I am all for that.

Question: With a new sponsor for 2004, how will your program change?
Derrike's Answer: Adequate sponsorship is a key for success in our highly competitive sport. I am pleased that we will be in a position to address every aspect of our program. For instance, we will be able to test more frequently and that is essential for success. Testing provides data regarding performance and is mandatory to make effective changes to enhance performance. Absent that data, changes tend to be hit and miss. We will now be in the position to do wind tunnel testing and I anticipate that that will prove invaluable to our team in addressing aero issues. Our engine horsepower output has been a significant issue for us. We will now be in the position to address and rectify our power plant deficiencies. I am pleased that we will be in the position to attract staff that will give depth to our program. For instance, we are considering adding engineering capabilities to our operation. To sum it up, we anticipate a major face lift in every aspect of our program.

Question: What will you focus on to improve qualifying?
Derrike's Answer:
We will do a combination of things. Clearly we have to improve our aerodynamic and engine packages. We need the same capabilities as our competitors if we are to be successful in qualifying and in race trim. As we accumulate more extensive data we can address issues like car balance, aerodynamics, etc. with modifications developed on accurate data with less guesswork. Bottom-line, the better the data the better the choices.
