Derrike in '81

Taken at Western Speedway, Victoria, B.C. Canada in 1981. Derrike was driving the #95 car in the NASCAR Western Grand National series for Jefferson Racing out of Naches, WA at that time.

Start of race

Parade lap for the 100 lap open competition race in Speedweek Northwest series, August 3, 1981. Derrike was in the #10 car sponsored by Cope Bros. Machine Shop. He ran third in the dash and finished third in the main event and earned $1200.

Also taken in Victoria. Derrike was discussing strategy with chassis expert Dave Fuge who was also his crew chief in later years.

Oops

Taken at Western Speedway but it was during the Victoria leg of the Speedweek Northwest series on July 30, 1981. Derrike finished 4th in the A dash; but was DNF after he crashed with Ron Esau of El Cajon, CA.

NOTE: There were two legs of the series held in Victoria. Derrike finished 4th in the A dash and sixth in the 75 lap feature on July 28th.

Taken when Derrike tried chauffeuring a sprint car around Spanaway Speedway in Spanaway, WA on March 7, 1982. It was the opening race of the 1982 Washington Racing Ass'n sprint car season. Derrike was 5th in the 2nd Heat and finished 12th in the main.
