Mark Phelps

I have been a fan of Derrike since 1997. Unfortunately, I missed his early Cup years but continue to root for him. What sets Derrike apart is his that he is very articulate and hard working. Everyone should read the chapter in Pete Golenbach's "American Zoom" in which Derrike describes his early career culminating in his 1990 Daytona 500 win. Derrike describes the varied emotions involved with the highs and lows of racing. One gets the appreciation of how hard he works and his overall strong character.

I am a new member and hope to be at the fan club meeting in September 2004 in Dover.
