Gil Shaw Jr.

I met Derrike when we were racing at Tri Cities Raceway, Richland, WA. He was running the NW tour driving for George Jefferson and 7-11.

He had just set the track record and we went down to talk to him. We told him about are bomber car at the other end of the pits and how it was running and he said, "Let's go look at it." We couldn't believe he was going to walk down to look at it. He checked things out, said it looks pretty good, and best of luck.

After we won the main in the bomber race, as we were heading back to the pits, he walked over to congratulate us and said he hoped he could do the same, and he also won the race.

It was great. We've followed him ever since and talked to him at many races where we were lucky enough to get to the pits. He's still a good guy and always has time to talk.
