March 4, 2010 - Derrike gave an update by saying, "Obviously I am disappointed with Las Vegas and the start to the season. Weather has played a role as well as just not making some good choices. I am currently looking deep into our whole program to see what changes need to be made to better insure success for the team and our sponsors. We certainly run well at certain race tracks but are less proficient at others. Funding is still at a premium and we are certainly lacking in that department, but hopefully we can move in a positive direction in that area as time goes on.

"I am looking forward to Bristol. It has always been a good place for me and maybe we can get back on track there. I will keep you posted with any further developments."

Stater Bros. 300
February 20, 2010 - Derrike ran the entire Nationwide race and finished in 36th position. After the race he said, "We had a good effort in qualifying this morning. It was a very difficult race to make. It seems as though there are a lot of good teams showing up and everyone has elevated their game. It will continue to take great effort and require good decisions to continue to be productive. Our car was too tight in qualifying which with no race practice I knew it would be difficult to race well. Thus I was not suprised that the car did not perform very well. It would not turn from the time we got here to the last lap of the race. We have a lot of work ahead of us to get better. We will probably run a different car in Las Vegas to see if we can run better. It is off to Vegas next week so I hope we can perform better. I will update you later in the week."

After practice on Friday Derrike said, "Today got off to a difficult start. We were not very fast and the car was not responding well. But in the second practice session we made some progress. We ended up 30th fastest but everyone is close. We qualify at 9:35am on Saturday, so hopefully we can get a good lap in and grab a good starting spot."

Derrike is entered in the Nationwide race in the #73 Asset Protect Dodge. He said, "We are off to California Speedway hoping to rebound in a major way. The rain prevented us from having an opportunity to try and qualify for the event in Daytona, so we are looking forward to getting on the track Friday. We continue to work hard and look to race well both in California and Las Vegas. Asset Protect will be the Sponsor on the car. I will update you after Qualifying and the race." Stater Bros. 300

New Alliance On Pace For 2010
December 14, 2009 - Racing veteran Derrike Cope and co-owner Dale Clemons announce the launch of the new motorsports company Stratus Racing Group, Inc. The full service company with racing facilities in Mooresville NC is equipped for participation in the ARCA, NASCAR Camping World Truck, Nationwide and Sprint Cup series. With major sponsorship already secured the company will campaign a full schedule in 2010 with the Nationwide and Camping World Truck series. The company will aggressively support a driver development program through activity in ARCA and will partner with Gary Keller of CKR for select Sprint Cup races in 2010; while setting its sights on more Cup efforts in 2011.

Co-Owner and primary driver Derrike Cope will be behind the wheel of the Nationwide car and Camping World truck while drivers Amber and Angela Cope are slated for ARCA races and limited truck series races. Racing veterans Rick Markle and father Del Markle will oversee team, engineering and pit crew responsibilities; plans to incorporate staff from Derrike Cope Inc. are currently underway. The company will debut its ARCA teams twin female drivers, Angela and Amber Cope at the Daytona ARCA test session this coming weekend. "Both drivers have experienced success in ARCA racing and are very excited to be moving forward to the NASCAR Truck Series with us in 2010," stated Derrike Cope.

"We are excited and pleased to be able to offer our current and potential sponsors a diverse platform of opportunities both on and off of the track in all of the top series creating enormous value. Additionally, utilizing our full service marketing efforts we are able to formulate a dynamic experience for companies in motorsports," stated Clemons. Derrike Cope (derrikecope@stratusracinggroup.com) will direct and oversee racing operations while Dale Clemons (dclemons@stratusracinggroup.com) will manage company administration and marketing. "We are very pleased to have secured the sponsorship required to provide Derrike with the necessary elements to return to full time competitive racing, we will provide sponsorship announcements in the coming weeks," stated Clemons.

Daytona
February 13, 2010 - Derrike said after the weekend, "Speedweeks did not go nowhere near what I had hoped for. All we can do is to press ahead and look to the next race. Weather did not help, but we need to be better prepared and find more speed in our equipment. Some of the funding has come late and some was not paid which hurts the effort. All that said we need more funding and continue to work hard."

February 8, 2010 - Derrike updated us saying, "The start to Speedweeks has been difficult. We had the upper halves of the noses changed on both Cup cars per the rules. They were not put on correctly, thus we were unable to pass inspection with both cars and unable to get any laps on the Shootout car and only two laps on the 500 car before qualifying.

"As you saw in the Shootout, we were running pretty well until we broke a valve in the engine. It was really disappointing because I felt like we had a competitive car and could have had a good showing.

"We are in a bit of a quandry at this point about the engine in the 500 car now. It is the same type and the same valves were installed in the engine. We only had 4 laps on the Shootout engine, so we are a bit afraid to put many laps on the engine for the Gatorade Duel race. We do not have a backup engine as we only had two at our disposal. So we will see.

March 1, 2007 - There was an article about C2P Suspension Technology so Derrike was asked about the company. "C2P is a brand of shocks that I sell worldwide," Derrike said. "It was developed after 2QWIK with improvements, some new variations, and processes that made it much more competitively priced. We produce shocks for motorcycles, ATV, stock cars, dirt cars, midgets, sprint cars, modified cars, snowmobiles, road bikes, some road cars, and specialty cars such as Lotus Elise, Viper, Evo, Miata, Corvette, Lambourgini, Ferrari, etc. The C2P brand is not approved for the three top series of NASCAR. It is approved for ARCA and many other series across the United States for the grass roots local racing series. As for 2QWIK, it was a shock line that I started with. It was very nice utilizing the finest materials and was very high priced. It was sold through an exclusive distributor, which did not work out, so it was discontinued."
