| It was announced that Derrike Cope would be driving in the Busch Series
again in 1999 for Xpress Motorsports. Derrike did run the Busch race in Atlanta in 1998 for some early practice. NASCAR Online
did a shop tour of the Xpress
Motorsports raceshop. On Jan. 14th, the team was part of the Charlotte
Media Tour. The team prepared for testing in Daytona.
The plan was for Derrike Cope to drive the No. 61 Xpress Motorsports Pontiac in a 20-race NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division schedule in 1999. It was announced later that Xpress Motorsports will run a full Busch Series schedule in 1999 with Tony Roper taking the wheel when Derrike Cope is unable to. Later it became official that Tony Roper would be taking over the full time driving duties for the year. Various items are here about the team: Derrike Cope, Dave Fuge, Xpress Motorsports Later in the year when Derrike and Bahari'-Eel River Racing mutually agreed to part ways, Derrike drove the #89 Heritage Consumer Products Chevrolet with Leon Fox as crew chief. Sponsor was Northstar/Penns Best.
