Prior to becoming partners with Mac Martin and Martin
Motorsports, Tim Weiss has been a car owner and crew chief for several seasons in Busch
and other series. Weiss had successful seasons in the Winston West Series with Dirk
Stephens and also worked in the ACT Series with Randy McDonald. Weiss began racing in
Busch, part-time, in 1990 and has seen victories at Hickory in 1994 with driver Johnny
Rumley and Rockingham with driver Todd Bodine in 1995.
As co-owner and crew chief of
Martin-Weiss Motorsports, Tim Weiss was a crucial part of Sterling Marlin's third place
finish at the Busch Grand National Charlotte race in October of 1996. In 1997, Weiss has
been helping ASA standout Joe Nott prepare for a start in NASCAR's Busch Series.
The 1998 season will not be the
first time Tim Weiss has worked with Derrike Cope. "I have worked with Derrike for
one race in the past," commented Weiss. "I enjoy getting the chance to work with
him next season."
Racing is not the only successful
career venture Weiss has made. His other entrepreneurial interests have included
construction, a body shop, and towing. |
