Derrike will be bringing two cars to Gateway for the race, the #73 driven by Kevin Lepage and the #78 driven by Derrike. Derrike said, "We have late entered the #78 Nationwide series car for this weekend in Iowa. Kevin Lepage will drive the #73 and I will drive the #78. We are swapping cars this week to better assess what differences we can find in both cars to hopefully get faster with both cars. We get a test day at Iowa on Thursday for us to evaluate both cars."

In the first practice, Derrike was 47th fastest with a time of 24.647 and speed of 127.805. Kevin was 33rd fastest with a time of 24.107 and speed of 130.667. In the second practice, Derrike was 33rd fastest with a time of 24.168 and speed of 130.338. Kevin was 24th fastest with a time of 24.021 and speed of 131.135. In the third practice, Derrike was 32nd fastest with a time of 24.173 with speed of 130.311. Kevin did not participate in the third practice.

In Qualifying, Derrike's fastest lap was a time of 24.066 and speed of 130.890 which unfortunately wasn't fast enough to make the race. However Kevin Lepage in Derrike's usual car, the #73 Dodge, had his fastest lap of 23.774 and speed of 132.498 which was 35th fastest at the end of the round.

Kevin Lepage started in 35th position and finished in 39th position.
