Derrike told us, "I
am getting ready to head to the Kansas Speedway for this weekend's Busch Series
race. I will be driving the number 71 Chevrolet for Randy MacDonald and MacDonald
Motorsports. I will be a teammate to Kevin Lepage who has been driving their
primary car for most of the season. I have known the MacDonalds for along
time and look forward to driving for them. They are wonderful people and
work very hard at their business. I look forward to the opportunity and will
do my best to get the car in the show. We obviously are not a lock in car
and will have stiff competition to get in the race. I am confident of having
a good weekend for them. I will provide an update after practice on Friday.
Wish us luck!"

In the first practice, Derrike was 49th
fastest with a time of 32.311 and speed of 167.126. In Happy Hour, he was
50th fastest with a time of 31.606 and speed of 170.854.
In Qualifying, Derrike was 51st fastest with
a time of 31.543 and speed of 171.195. Unfortunately this was not fast
enough to make the race.

Derrike gave us these comments. "As I'm sure you
know we missed the race. Both Kevin and I ran about the same. We were just
unable to keep the car off the race track. Be had to stiffen the front
springs up to try and stop it, but in qualifying it rode on the front cross
member all the way through the corner sending a steam of sparks behind it.
The crew really did a good job with the situations that we had to deal with,
but the outcome is the same."
