Derrike will be driving the #28 in
California. Mighty EZY is listed as the sponsor.
In the first practice, Derrike was
34th fastest with a time of 41.623 and speed of 172.981.
In Happy Hour, Derrike was 39th
fastest with a time of 41.304 and speed of 174.317.
After Friday's practices, Derrike
gave us this update.
"Practice went fairly well yesterday. We were
around 34th quickest for most of the day. We had a bit of a problem right
before we did our simulated qualifying run and did not get the lap we were
looking for. So, we will make some adjustments and hope we make the right
ones. We go out 14 which is a good draw. There are a lot of really good cars
here, but we have a pretty decent car and I feel that with a good solid lap
we can qualify for the event. I will update you later today with my thoughts
after qualifying."
In qualifying, Derrike was scheduled to go
out as the 14th of 49 drivers to qualify. He produced a fastest time of
41.108 and speed of 175.148. At the end of the round, he was left in 45th
position and missed the show.

Here is an update from Derrike. "I am sure that
you know we missed the race. We missed it by 18 one hundredths of a second.
We made numerous changes before qualifying, but we bottomed out both from
tires up into the front fenders which cost us some speed. We also need to
run our cars coil bound like the other teams which keeps the front valence
on the ground down the straight-aways which is speed. We know we are still
down on horsepower but it is what we have so we need to get better in other
areas to make up for it. I do not believe we will be going to Richmond. It
looks like Dover could be next? I will update you with more details when
they become available."
