Derrike will be at the wheel of the #28 Ford car for Jay Robinson Racing in Daytona. Derrike said, "We will attempt to qualify at Daytona. We have been unable to qualify well at Daytona in the past, but we will have to pick up the pace to make the race, but we will do the best that we can."

In the first practice, Derrike was 47th fastest with a time of 51.780 and speed of 173.812.

In Qualifying, Derrike was the second driver on the track and produced a time of 53.598 with a speed of 167.917. Unfortunately this was not fast enough to make the race on time so the car will miss the show.

After attempting to qualify, Derrike said, "As you probably already know we missed the race. The car was not close to being capable of qualifying for the race. If it would have rained out qualifying we would have been in, but even so we could have never held on to the draft. So unfortunately we will watch it on TV. I really hate missing the speedway races as I enjoy them a lot. I guess it was not meant to be."
