In the first practice, Derrike was 46th fastest with a time of 21.797 and speed of 123.870.

In qualifying, Derrike produced a lap of 21.685 and speed of 124.510. At the end of the round, the team used their points and Derrike will start the race in 42nd position.

Derrike started the race in 42nd position and finished in 29th position.

Derrike finished in the 29th position in their run at Richmond. He assessed their performance this way, "All in all it was a decent night for
us. The car was a little tight to start, but the team made the right adjustments to free us up. It was our third race with that motor. Although it was a little weak it held together for the entire race. We continue to pursue sponsorship for the #28 team. Until we can secure additional funding we will focus on continuing to race smart and take what the situation will give us. We were pleased that our run at Richmond resulted in a gain in points for the team."
